I had an opportunity of life time to get to AZ for activities with friend that works in the Sports Industry. We attended Saturday evening and I had the chance to speak with both Ditka and Turley. Great conversation and insight into their cause. I can't wait to smoke of Coach Ditkas cigars that he had out a table. Great time- thanks.

Coach, i can't tell you how much of a great thing this is you are doing. i just wrote a check to be earmarked for Mr DeMarco. His story just touched me deeply and i will never be able to look at the NFL the same way again. I think while we are preparing to watch the league's biggest specticle tomorrow (2-3-08), we should all take a moment to remember those who gave their bodies and their souls to a league and a union that don't give a damn about them now. Keep doing God's work coach.

The hurdles faced by retired NFL players to obtain disability benefits are a function of the way the disability plan is written and the federal law that is supposed to protect employee benefits known as ERISA. Put simply, the deck is stacked against the players as it is against many other employees whose become disabled. The NFL players, however, often become disabled years after they stopped playing due to degererative conditions. Worse still, the NFL is reluctant to acknowledge the potentially damaging effects on the brain of multiple concussions like in the Boyd case.
